Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, also known as Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed by the label's first female artist with Dreamville Records by J. Cole. In the month of October Ari Lennox debuted her Pho EP. This was the moment that she received recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox began posting her music to the internet in 2012 when she dropped her first mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography In 2013. In 2014, she released more music via the Internet including Bound. In 2015, she was featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on July 21st. J. Cole was interested in her talents and was keen to work together with Rihanna. On December 8 it was confirmed that she had been contracted to Dreamville Records. Backseat was her contribution for The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. Her Pho EP was released on her debut EP, on October 21 in 2016. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as opening The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017 in which she was joined by EarthGang. In 2018 she went on to appear on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video for it was also released on September 5th. In November, she released her singles forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. Then on November 13 two new singles called The No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a song that she performed alongside Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on 16 November. It then came out as a stand-alone single in February 2019, to coincide with the release of her debut album. A music video debuted on 20 February 2019 to go along with the track. Within a week, it had over 3,000,000 views. As a support act She toured in concert with 6LACK in December 2018 on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
